The 2012 Western Canadian Regional Barista Championships

National Barista Championships in Toronto.
There will be public tastings of the creations of the various
baristas throughout the entire weekend.
2012 Western Canadian Regional
Barista Championships
Catch the action as some of the country’s best baristas demonstrate
the art of making the perfect espresso drinks and compete for one of four
Canadian Regional Barista Championship titles. The Western Regionals will
take place in Vancouver at Canada's largest consumer food show: EAT! Vancouver
Food + Cooking Festival at BC Place Stadium.
Each competitor must prepare and serve 12 separate espresso beverages:
4 espresso, 4 cappuccinos, and 4 "signature" drinks of their
own creation. Competitors have only fifteen minutes to prepare all twelve
drinks and are judged on various elements including station cleanliness,
taste, beverage presentation, technical skills and total impression by
a distinguished panel of judges.
The top competitors from each regional will compete at the Canadian National
Barista Championship at the Coffee & Tea Show in Toronto. The eventual
winner of the national championship will represent Canada at the World
Barista Championship in 2013. All the competitors will receive some great
prizes for participating as well as valuable experience.
