Dana ReinhardtChef / Owner Cru1459 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC V6H 1H6 604-677-4111 www.cru.ca Chef Dana Reinhardt began her culinary career at the early age of 11 at the Pacific National Exhibition, spinning cotton candy and dunking candy apples. It has been up hill ever since and she is now Chef/proprietor of Cru Restaurant in Vancouver.
In between Dana has attended university at SFU, managed a number of high profile restaurants in Vancouver, won the Les Dames d’Escoffier scholarship and graduated from Dubrulle International Culinary Institute. But, it was in 1996, when she met her husband, sommelier Mark Taylor, that Dana chose to cook professionally. She and Mark opened a small bistro in Whistler called the Opossum Café and cut their teeth on their first venture. Combining their love of food and wine, Dana and Mark moved to the B.C. wine country and opened The Cellar Door Bistro in the winery at Sumac Ridge. The success and media attention the Cellar Door garnered prompted Dana to travel to England and work at the River Café in London with her culinary heroes, Rose Gray and Ruth Rodgers. Returning back to Vancouver, Dana worked at both Raincity Grill and Lumiere, until the opportunity to open Cru arose in 2003. Cru is a modern wine bar and restaurant with a very innovative food and wine pairing approach. Cru has already gained a great deal of media attention and a number of awards for both the wine list and the food. Cru is a culmination of Dana and Mark’s love of food and wine. |
