Lucais Syme is co-owner of Cinara restaurant with his wife Gillian Book. Together they have won Vancouver Magazine’s “Best Downtown” award in 2016 and 2017 and are included in the Best 100 restaurants in Canada. Lucais creates the menu at Cinara with in line with the philosophy of Italy: Use great ingredients, cook seasonally with respect and care. The menu at Cinara reflects the local bounty of British Columbia and the great imported products of Italy. While traditional dishes are respected, modernity and progress are constantly explored.
Before opening Cinara in 2014, Lucais owned and was the chef at La Quercia, La Ghianda, L’Ufficio, and La Pentola, all of which have received many awards.
